MEPworx Wiring – Identifying SPDs on the electrical network

You’ve checked the new requirements of Amendment 2 Regulation 443.4.1, consulted Regulation 534.4.4 to select and set up your Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) and now you would like to be able to see where they are on the electrical distribution network.

In support of being able to set up SPDs anywhere on the network, information systems have also been added to assist with easily identifying their locations.

Sub Mains mode.

Where an SPD has been added to a Main Board, an ‘S’ is displayed in the board’s symbol. Plus, in the ‘Board Entry’ dialog, the ‘Over voltage Protection - Details’ button is shown as Bold Italic, with details of the SPD’s Model and Reference adjacent. 

Sub Mains Cables

Also in Sub Mains mode, when the Display- Options box is checked for Show CPD Symbols, an ‘S’ is displayed adjacent to the origin of any cable where an SPD has been set up.
This also applies if the cable has an SPD fitted but no CPD.

Where SPDs have been set up on Sub Mains cables, those details are included in the Schedules.
This information can also be exported as a CSV file for use in Excel.

Final Boards & Ways

When an SPD has been set up at the incomer of a Final Board, ‘SPD’ is displayed at the bottom of the board.
As for Main Boards, the Final Board General Details dialog shows the ‘Over voltage Protection - Details’ button as Bold Italic when an SPD has been added, with details of the SPD’s Model and Reference adjacent.

The above screen shot also shows an ‘S’ where an SPD has been set up on a Way (Final Circuit).

The details of the SPD at the board’s incomer are included in the Schedules – Board Circuit Protection

Plus, for the SPD that can be seen on Way 5L2, this detail is included in the Schedules – All (VD, Amps, Desc.).
