Select Objects - AutoCAD

Question

When I pick objects they usually highlight and grips appear; at that point I usually right-mouse-click and select the contextual modifier I wish to use from the mouse menu... But on some systems this menu stops working or doesn’t include the modifiers for the object/command; I have checked the setting for right-click mouse menus etc so why is this happening?
