Customising the start-up splash screen for 3DS MAX

This is a common question often asked by users who want to place a custom logo or help screen when 3ds Max starts.

Question:

Can I, or how do I, customise 3ds Max’s splash screen?

Answer:

Yes, edit the Splash.BMP file located in the location C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 20XX.

(Replace XX with the appropriate version number).

Ensure its name reads ‘Splash’ with a capital S and that the BMP file settings are set to RGB.
