How do I convert DWG files to an earlier version without owning AutoCAD?

A common question I have heard recently is how do I convert DWG files to earlier versions?

This is easily done by using a function called DWG convert which is a feature in the free application Trueview. The latest version, 2021, has the new quick measurement enhancements making it useful to anyone who needs to be able to view and print drawings. It also has the DWG convert function.
