The easiest and best way of efficiently achieving this task is to make use of an AutoCAD Add-in called drawing purge.

This Add-in has been around for several years and has been recently updated to work with all AutoCAD versions from 2012 – 2022.

It purges not only standard AutoCAD elements, but also 3^rd party entities like DGN linetypes, Regapps and cleans up annotative scale lists. The application will diagnose any attached Xrefs that need purging as well.

As with all add-ins the application only works with full AutoCAD versions and cannot be used with AutoCAD LT.
