Question:

Does the Cadline GML Translator tool create the individual Topo and Carto tables for display in a desktop GIS?

Answer:

The Cadline GML Translator tool allows you to import your OS Mastermap holding into any spatially enabled database, for example, Oracle, SQL and PostGIS.

By default, on first import, the GML Translator will create a One Master OS Mastermap table in your chosen spatial database, which can then be used to generate Web Map Tiles., which is a great way to publish OS MasterMap data into a web mapping application.

The GML Translator tool also has an option (Create Layer Tables) to allow you to create the Individual Topo and Carto OS Mastermap tables, so that you can then style and display your OS Mastermap holding within a desktop GIS. Allowing you to have fully styled OS mapping which you can also snap and trace to.

Alternately you can generate the individual OS Mastermap Topo, and Carto tables post import, by choosing the Create Topographic Tables option at any time.

Opening the individual Topo and Carto tables into a desktop GIS e.g., QGIS, will then allow you to use the Ordnance Survey style files to successfully style your OS Mastermap data!
