It is all too easy to accidentally go in and edit Revit components, especially when working with tags and title sheets where clicking action is used to edit parameters. It is recommended to users to customise the mouse clicking behaviour to avoid this situation.

To customise the double click behaviour, choose options from the main Revit menu.

If unsure what to set, choose the do-nothing option. It is still possible to edit the family via the ribbon menu or by the right-click options menu. This preference will be saved to the registry and will only need to be repeated if Revit is reinstalled.
