AutoDesk Vault - Document Sub Type

When managing Inventor files using Vault, you may need to differentiate between certain document types (i.e. Sheet Metal or regular parts, Weldments or regular assemblies).

Document SubType Name is an Inventor iProperty mappable in Vault that will return this information.

Simply create a UDP (User defined property) and map it to the Document SubType Name.

Tools -> Administration -> Vault Settings -> Behaviours tab -> Properties -> New -> Mapping tab

After the mapping has been defined, the property needs to be associated with relevant file categories, so it will be automatically listed in the properties panel.

This can prove particularly useful when creating assignment rules if it’s necessary to push a certain file type to a specific category.
