The Beam/Column Join Tool

Click Modify tab > Edit Geometry panel >  (Beam/Column Joins)

The Beam/Column join tool adjusts how beams and columns frame into one another. By default, a longer beam is cut back from a shorter beam. You use this tool to adjust cutback for beams and columns.

Adjust Cutback Geometry at End Joins

There are 2 types of beam end joins: square-off and mitre. Use the Beam/Column Joins tool to adjust both by removing or applying the visible cutback of the beams.

If two co-planar beams of the same family and type without cross-sectional rotation in a join are not cutback, the join becomes a mitre join as illustrated.
