The Quick Access Toolbar or QAT is a common interface to all Autodesk products and can be used to quickly access commonly used commands like save, undo, measure and annotate functions. Customising the User Interface in AutoCAD is an excellent way to improve user productivity and many users have their own favourite commands that they also wish to add to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT).

The QAT is easily customised, a simple right click on a command from any ribbon tab gives users the option to add it to the QAT. This saves time browsing various ribbon tabs looking for favourite commands.

Some common choices can be accessed from a drop-down list on the QAT itself as well. Another common choice is adding the Layer drop down list which can also be added to the QAT. (See Fig 1.)
