AutoCAD’s hatch command has been constantly improved over the years with many of its parameters adjustable, either via the ribbon panel or by AutoCAD’s context sensitive right-click menu. A common question I get asked,  is can I adjust the origin of the hatch pattern? This is typically required when a hatch element represents real world objects such as brick or blockwork or a ceiling grid layout.

In the image below a user defined hatch pattern is representing the ceiling grid, but the origin is offset away from the desired origin.

By clicking on the hatch element, the origin can be specified in the correct location via the set origin command within the ribbon menu.

Clicking on the bottom left corner intersection modifies the hatch pattern as desired.
