Creating a Model Group

If you want to save a particular configuration of Model elements, you can use the Create Group command to save that group of elements. You can then copy and paste that group of elements across your Revit project.

The advantage of this tool is that when you modify one group you are modifying all groups duplicated throughout your model.

To manage your Model Groups, go to the bottom of the Project Browser.

Creating a Detail Group

Grouping elements also applies to Annotative elements for Detail Groups.

You can use this command to create your own custom Component or arrange two or more Components to copy and paste informative text-based information across the views of your Revit project.

Like Model Groups, Detail Groups can be found at the bottom of the Project Browser.

You can save the Detail Group as a Revit file (.rvt) to load into your project.

To do this:

1. Select your Detail Group > File menu > Save As > Library > Group.

Or you can right-click the Detail Group from the Project Browser and select Save Group.

2. Go to the Insert tab > Load from Library panel > Load as Group.

Attached detail groups can contain view-specific elements that are associated with a specific model group.
