Question:

Why am I getting the error message ‘Requested ESUID does not exist or may have been removed recently’ what is the reason for this?

Answer:

This can happen when you have a browser page open viewing the details of an ESU record. And at the same time the ESU is being edited by another user or by you in another session. If that ESU is reshaped, and its Start or End Points are moved, then the ESU is deleted and recreated. So, in the original browser tab, which you have open and showing the details for the original ESU, if you press refresh, the ESU will have been removed and no longer available to view.

These instances can happen for ESUs of Numbered Streets in your LSG. A Numbered Street, by design, can be made up of Street Geometry from multiple Named Street Records. E.g. the B226 is actually a Street linked to multiple Named Streets – Grove Park Road, Charlesfield and Chinbrook Road.

Viewed in the LSG here is the B226, whose geometry is created by associating the Street geometry from any number of associated Named Streets. In fact, the geometry for the Numbered Street isn’t stored in a Streets table, it is made up of the collective ESU geometry from each associated Named Street.

Clicking on a part of the Street will identity the individual ESUID for this one ESU segment, and it is - 541572172177

Clicking the Street Xref tab in the Numbered Street record will list all the ESUs and we can see the ESUID we are interested in at the bottom.

If we choose the Edit Pencil icon, this opens up the Edit page for the individual ESUID – 541572172177.

If we keep this ESUID browser tab open, and then either we open a new Browser (or someone else does) and edit the geometry of this part of the Street in the Named Street record – Charlesfield. If we edit the shape of the Street and we either move the Start of this segment or the end of it,… this will result in the ESU for this part of Street having to be dropped and recreated by the system.

So, if we return to the browser tab with the Edit ESUID page open, if we refresh that page, because this ESUID no longer exists, it will show the error message as shown below.

This also means that this individual ESU will have been removed from the Numbered Street record and we will need to add the new ESU back onto the Numbered Street.

So firstly, in the Named Street window, click on the reshaped line and Identify the new ESUID value - 541580172184

Now open the Numbered Street record, and in the map we can see the ESU that was reshaped has been removed.

So, choose the Street Xref tab,… and then select the button labelled Attach Xref ESU.

We can either search for ESUs associated to the Named Street e.g. Charlesfield or type the exact ESUID. Once we have found the new ESUID value, tick the box and then press the Attach button at the bottom of the window.

Once attached the reshaped ESU is now re-associated to the Numbered Street in the Xref tab

… and the Geometry of the Numbered Street is updated, with the newly reshaped ESU added back in!
