Introduction

In Revit, the "Beam/Column Joins" tool, found under the Modify tab's Edit Geometry panel, adjusts how beams and columns frame into one another, allowing for mitred corners and other connections.

Location

You can find this tool under the Modify tab > Edit Geometry panel > (Beam/Column Joins)

Adjust Cutback Geometry at End Joins

There are 2 types of beam end joins: square-off and mitre. Use the Beam/Column Joins tool to adjust both by removing or applying the visible cutback of the beams.

If two co-planar beams of the same family and type without cross-sectional rotation in a join are not cutback, the join becomes a mitre join as illustrated.
