W3W – Excel Plugin

Did You Know:

There is a What3Words (W3W) plugin which can be used within Excel... and it can convert W3W 3-word addresses into coordinates and coordinates into W3W addresses!

From the download page choose Get it now.

… and then choose to Open in Excel.

Inside Excel the W3W plugin is then added to the Ribbon Bar.

Having chosen the W3W plugin, you will need to enter your W3W API Key.

Once the API Key is validated,.. you can then use the W3W plugin to start to convert your records in Excel.

In any cell simply start typing “w3w=…

And you can then complete the variables to choose to convert coordinates to W3W or vice versa.

In this example we have records with two coordinate columns, Latitude and Longitude.

As you start typing the formula, you choose the column/cell that contains each coordinate – e.g. b2 (Latitude) and c2 (Longitude)

… adding the language at the end e.g. “en” is English.

Press return, and the coordinate values are converted into W3W addresses.

If you drag the completed cell down, excel will auto calculate the W3W address for all the other records in the excel sheet!
