As in the requirements of IET BS 7671:2018, Amendment 3, where an EV charger is capable of returning excess energy back to the AC supply system, it is deemed to be a Bidirectional device. This is because there can be a flow of energy in both directions.

When setting up the Load details for an EV Charging Point, there is now a Bidirectional Charging checkbox, which will check for the selection of an appropriate CPD with Bidirectional characteristics.

The Bidirectional characteristic of the selected CPD is confirmed in the Detailed CPD Entry dialog:

If the selected CPD does not have Bidirectional characteristics, a pop-up warning message will advise you accordingly.

For more information and guidance, please refer to the in-program Help (F1) and run a Search for Bidirectional.
