Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Inventor provide a bidirectional link between electrical and mechanical design, enabling electrical controls engineers and mechanical designers to work from a shared, synchronised project. Electrical schematics created in AutoCAD Electrical can be associated with Inventor 3D models, allowing changes to components, connectors, and wiring information to be reflected across both environments. This integration supports the automatic generation of accurate wire from/to lists, including source and destination connection points, wire numbering, and connectivity data.

When combined with Inventor's cable and harness capabilities, designers can also calculate and validate wire run lengths based on the physical routing within the 3D model, improving material estimates, manufacturing documentation and installation accuracy while reducing manual data entry and design errors.
