Revit 2022 Tip - Creating a ramp with different slopes

Revit’s ramp tool is a somewhat limited with regards to modelling a ramp that requires more than one slope angle. For greater flexibility I usually recommend to users to use the floor slab tool and use the modify sub object functions to bend and warp the floor as required. The slab tool also is useful for structural disciplines as it is classified as a structural object, can show as an analytical object, and can host structural rebar objects.

Slabs can also host railings and is a valid reference for the attachment of walls and columns.

To create a bespoke ramp, simply create a flat floor slab with no angled slope edges or arrows, otherwise it removes the sub object editing options shown in the image below.

Once the sketch is finished, select the floor and add split lines to set change of slope and landing positions, use reference planes to assist placement if required. Once the lines have been added, use the modify sub elements to set an offset height from the reference level.

Railings, walls and column supports can be added and attached to the ramp to complete the design.
