Revit 2023 has some additional functionality when working with legacy CAD files including DWG, AXM and STL formats. When working with CAD files it is now possible to get the CAD instance to respect the cutting plane of a plan view. This is available as a new instance parameter which can be accessed via the property’s palette. When the instance parameter is not enabled, the CAD geometry is shown as projected in views even when the cut plane intersects the 3D geometry of the CAD file.

Simply clicking enable cutting in views will result like the following:

In addition, all supported CAD file formats can be placed on levels or named horizontal reference planes when being modified. In the property palette a work plane property can be used to set the base level of the CAD import. If the host plane or level is removed, the placement position of the import can be maintained.
