Revit Tip – Transferring Keyboard Shortcuts between Workstations

When training, a common question I get asked is, in Revit how can users transfer custom Revit Keyboard shortcuts to other Workstations? Or in rare instances a Revit workstation seems to have no keyboard shortcuts set, and rather than setting the shortcuts from scratch, they can be exported and then imported from a working machine.

This is a very easy process, as the Keyboard shortcuts can be exported to an XML transfer file, called Keyboardshortcuts.XML

This file can then be located onto a shared resource and accessed from another workstation. Simply run the Keyboard Shortcuts command (‘KS’) and choose IMPORT. Click OK and save changes. The custom or modified shortcuts are now available for use on the second PC.

Alternatively, the Keyboard Shortcut interface can also be accessed from the Options menu or the View>User Interface ribbon panel as per the image below:
