Revit 2024 – Removing Unplaced Rooms/Areas from Project

I recently received a question on how to remove unplaced rooms and areas from a Revit project. An unplaced room often occurs as a result of a boundary element being removed, making the room invalid but the room element itself remains in the project.

A good way to locate these rooms, especially if the room tag is deleted is to create a room schedule. Choose ‘Show All’ Not placed or Unenclosed rooms. To ease the selection process also isolate these rooms and use the shift key to select multiple rows and delete them.

A warning dialogue will appear notifying the user of the deletion and advises that associated room tags will also be removed.

Areas work in a similar way as rooms. They can only be deleted in the project by removing them from the respective schedule.

• Create an Area Schedule.
• Select Modify Schedule/Quantities on the ribbon.
• In the Not Placed/Unenclosed panel click the Isolate button.
• Select Not Placed/ Unenclosed Areas in the list.
• Delete the selected areas using a right click menu option.
