Introduction
Use this tech preview to get early access to Revit's new graphics platform, delivering faster navigation and optimised hardware utilisation, with a current focus on the graphics card. Accelerated Graphics is enabled on a per-view basis, without creating any changes to the model or the view. When the view or model is closed, the accelerated graphics mode is disabled for that view.
In any relevant view, the Accelerate Graphics (Tech Preview) toggle can be found in the top right corner of the view.
Additional settings for Accelerated Graphics (Tech Preview), can be found in the options window under the Graphics tab. Also, expanding the view toggle will allow you to change the location of the toggle.
Accelerated Graphics
Use accelerated graphics to increase performance while working in views of your model.
The Accelerated Graphics Tech Preview offers faster navigation in both 2D and 3D views with various visual styles.
Enable Accelerated Graphics
To manually enable or disable access to Accelerated Graphics, go to Options dialog box > Graphics tab > Accelerated Revit Graphics and select Enable the Accelerated Graphics Tech Preview. Once enabled, use the radio buttons to enable or disable how the accelerated graphics tech preview will be enabled in individual views.
- Show onscreen toolbar and toggle with right-click menu - Both the onscreen toolbar and right-click options are available to enable and disable tech preview accelerated graphics in a view.
- Toggle with right-click only - Onscreen control is not visible, only right-click can be used to enable and disable tech preview accelerated graphics.
Once activated, the view will display a coloured border.
Limitations
Limitations include:
• Doesn’t work in Realistic View Mode.
• No support for Point Clouds.
• No support for Line Weights and Patterns.
The accelerated graphics feature cannot be used inside sheets or even viewports placed on sheets. You must use the feature directly on views themselves.
Conclusion
The accelerated graphics feature in Revit 2026 is a brand-new graphics engine for Revit. It harnesses the power of your graphics card instead of depending on your processor like the old graphics engine did. However, it has many limitations and is only a "tech preview" for now.
