There are two type of revision attributes in elecworks™. Absolute and Relative.

Absolute revision indexing means that if you have 3 revision attributes you can only show the first 3 revisions. A fourth revision would not be shown in this instance.

Relative means you have a scrolling revision system. If you have 3 revision attributes, elecworks™ will show the last 3 revisions.

Absolute Attributes:

With a title border which has Absolute attributes (e.g. #REV_NO_2) shown in the following order of:

112.png

The 1st revision will be populated in the lowest index value #REV_NO_0.

113.png

The 2nd revision will be populated into index value #REV_NO_1, the 3rd into #REV_NO_2 and the 4th revision will not be shown.

Basically absolute revision numbering is only suitable where your number of revision attributes shown in the title border equals the maximum number of revisions likely to be created.

Relative Attributes:

With relative numbering you have a further two options within the Project configuration >

115.PNG

With a title border which has Relative attributes (e.g. #REV_NO_-2) shown in the following order of:

¤ Always fill lower index attributes

This option is only applicable with revision attributes with a negative index (e.g. #REV_NO_-2).

The 1st revision will be populated in the lowest index value. Subsequent new revisions will be populated in the next lowest indexed value. If no. of revisions is > # revision attributes, then # latest revisions will be displayed. The 1st revision will be populated in the lowest index value. In this case #REV_NO_-2.

117.png

However when a 2nd revision is assigned, the 1st revision will move down to #REV_NO_-1 & 2nd revision will be populated in #REV_NO_-0. When a 4th revision is created, the 4th will populate #REV_NO_-0, the 3rd #REV_NO_-1 and the 2nd #REV_NO_-2 with the 1st revision not being shown.

Basically the benefit of the switch between lower and higher means that elecworks will show the 1st revision starting at either the top or the bottom of the available attributes.
