Autodesk Inventor - Drawing Tip - Ordinate dimension for detail view

Ordinate dimensions are easy to add in Inventor drawings, but what if you need them in a detail view? They cannot be moved from the main view and most likely the origin won’t be included in the detail.

As a workaround, you can:

• Create a Work Point in the model where the origin indicator should be.

• Include the Work Point in the detail view.

• Create the ordinate dimension by selecting the Work Point as the origin.

As the point may be outside the sheet or interfere with other views, you can turn its visibility off and hide the origin indicator.
