Inventor - Set a different colour for each model state

When working with model states in a part, changing the appearance will apply to all model states, even if the edit scope is set to active member only.

iParts would allow saving a different appearance for each member, however the iPart route requires a different Part Number for each member.  

There is a workflow that can help in this scenario – users can edit via spreadsheet to add an Appearance<style></style> column, and type in the appearance name for each individual member. It’s best to also match the case in the Appearance name – Inventor will still recognise the value, but will prompt the user to update the value when the model state is activated:
