Autodesk Inventor - Axis through a slot

The axis tool works fine for circular holes, but when selecting a slot how can an axis be added to allow fixings to be constrained thorough its centre?

Firstly, select the axis tool, then do a right click and select ‘create plane’.

Select the first edge of the slot.

Next select the centre of the line.

Right click again and select ‘create plane’, then select the first inside face.

Lastly select the second inside face.

The axis will be then generated.

Looking at the model browser the temporary work planes are nested under the new work axis.
