The axis tool is a great way to get a constraint line onto a hole feature, it works fine with holes on a flat surface but what if the hole is on a curved surface?

The tool won’t be able to select the hole edge to generate the work axis.

In this scenario the point tool should be used to generate the snap points. However once again using this tool the curved hole causes problems with the edge selection.

To generate the work point, firstly right click and change the selection type to ‘Loop Select’.

With this selection type used the edge can be selected and the point added.

Do the same for the other edge, then the points can be used to create the axis.
