The best place to create a new pipe type is in your company standard template (*.DWT) because this means that every new drawing that is created always has the specific pipe type definition.

Pipe types can also represent cables and wires, so the function is not just limited to “pipes”. For information on how to create pipe types please refer to the white paper.
